Books are published as full editions in Spanish, Swahili, Luganda, Portuguese, Arabic, French, Hindi, Ukrainian and Amharic as well as English, with more languages on the way, so people can read in their own language.

Plans to read together

One short reading a day. Start on the same day and everyone reaches the same chapter together, each reader ticking off their own progress as they go.

New to the Faith

39 days·~8 min/day

Five and a half weeks for anyone just beginning with Christ. Charles Spurgeon meets you at the wicket gate with the plainest help there is for trusting Jesus; then R. A. Torrey, writing for new believers, shows how to begin right — assurance, the Holy Spirit, the church, the Bible, prayer and witness. Short articles along the way answer the questions every new Christian asks: what the gospel is, why Jesus died, what baptism and the Lord’s Supper mean, and how to keep growing.

Day 1 ·What Is the Gospel? A Clear, Simple Summary

The Way to God: Grace for Every Sinner

35 days·~18 min/day

A month on the oldest good news there is. Richard Baxter's tender call to the unconverted, D. L. Moody on the way to God, and Charles Spurgeon's All of Grace — the plainest of guides to how a sinner is saved, and how to know it.

Day 1 ·A Call to the Unconverted

Everything for Christ: A Life Poured Out

25 days·~25 min/day

What does whole-hearted surrender cost, and what does it yield? David Brainerd's searching missionary diary, followed by the stories of men and women who gave everything for the sake of the gospel — a call to consecration told through lives that answered it.

Day 1 ·The Life and Diary of David Brainerd

Ways to use it in your mission

  1. Discipleship by link

Send each new believer the same short reading plan, and talk through what they read when you meet.

  2. Training local leaders

Read Baxter’s The Reformed Pastor or Torrey’s How to Bring Men to Christ with the people you are training.

  3. Strength for the long haul

When the work is hard, read the journals and letters of those who served before you.

  4. Supporters at home

Point your praying friends to the same missionary biographies that shaped your own calling.

Questions

Is Ochorus really free?

Yes. Every book and sermon on Ochorus is free to read, with no paywall, no subscription and no ads. The classics themselves are in the public domain, and Ochorus is a ministry, not a business.

Do the people I serve need an account?

No. Anyone with the link can read, with nothing to pay and no sign-up. A free account is optional and only keeps a reader’s progress and notes in step across devices.

Which languages are available?

Besides English, books are published in Spanish, Swahili, Luganda, Portuguese, Arabic, French, Hindi, Ukrainian and Amharic. Each language has its own editions, so the shelf in each language shows only what has been published in it.

Can we read without an internet connection?

Yes. The offline pack on this page saves a set of books to your device in one step, and Download on any book’s page saves that book. Many books can also be downloaded as free PDF and EPUB files, to print or to read on an e-reader.

Can we request a book in a language we serve?

Please contact us. We would be glad to hear which books and languages would help your work most.
