As its own title page puts it, 'There is medicine in the Bible for every sin-sick soul, but every soul does not need the same medicine' — so Torrey arranges the remedies according to the maladies: how to deal with the careless, the anxious, the skeptic, the backslider and every other kind of person, each with the fitting word of Scripture, closing on the baptism of the Holy Spirit as the secret of power in the work.

There are certain general conditions, the fulfilment of which is absolutely essential to real success in bringing men to Christ. These conditions, fortunately, are few and simple and such as any one can meet. 1. The one who would have real success in bringing others to Christ must himself be A THOROUGHLY CONVERTED PERSON.
