Isaiah
Treated in 757 passages across the library.
The prophecies of Isaiah in Jerusalem in the eighth century before Christ. He sees the Lord high and lifted up and cries "Woe is me," then declares judgment on Judah and the nations alongside promises of a coming king: Immanuel, the Prince of Peace. Its later chapters bring comfort to the exiles and the portrait of the suffering servant, "wounded for our transgressions," quoted throughout the New Testament.

The verses these writers stop at
- 53:5 But it was for our rebellions that he was pierced through, for our guilt that he was crushed. On him fell the discipline that won our peace, and his welts have brought us healing. 32
- 9:6 For a child has been born for us, a son has been given to us, and the right to rule rests on his shoulders. He has been named Planner of Wonders, God the Mighty Warrior, Father for All Time, Ruler of Peace. 25
- 40:31 But those who wait for the LORD will take on fresh strength. They will climb high on outspread wings like eagles. They will run and not wear out; they will walk and not tire. 24
- 43:2 When you go through the waters, I will be beside you; through the rivers, they will not flood over you. When you walk in the fire, you will not be scorched; the flame will not burn you up. 24
- 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking, "Whom am I to send? Who will go on our behalf?" I answered, "I am ready. Send me." 22
- 53:3 He was despised and shunned by everyone, a man of pains, no stranger to sickness. People turned their faces away from him; he was despised, and we counted him as nothing. 21
- 40:11 Like a shepherd he will pasture his flock. He will gather the lambs into his arm and carry them close against his chest, and he will lead the nursing ewes with care. 19
- 26:3 The mind that is held steady you guard in peace, unbroken peace, for it relies on you. 18
