Hebrews
Treated in 780 passages across the library.
A letter of unknown authorship to Jewish believers tempted to turn back from Christ. It shows Christ as better than angels, Moses and the priesthood of Aaron: the great High Priest who offered Himself once for all and opened the way into the holiest. Its eleventh chapter recalls the heroes of faith, and it calls readers to run with patience, "looking unto Jesus."
Chapters
The verses these writers stop at
- 7:25 For this reason he is able to save completely those who approach God through him, since he is always alive to plead on their behalf. 47
- 12:2 Let us keep our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer who leads the way in faith and brings it to perfection. For the sake of the joy that lay ahead of him, he endured a cross and counted its shame as nothing, and he has taken his seat at the right hand of God's throne. 45
- 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for, the proof of realities we do not see. 30
- 13:5 Do not let love of money rule the way you live; be satisfied with what you have. For God himself has said, "I will not ever let you go, and I will never, never abandon you." 30
- 2:14 Since the children, then, share a common life of flesh and blood, he himself took on that same life in the same way, so that by his death he might strip of power the one who holds the power of death, the devil, 29
- 4:15 For the high priest we have is not one who cannot share the feeling of our weaknesses; he has been put to the test in every way, as we are, but without sinning. 29
- 4:16 So let us, with confidence, approach the throne of grace, to receive mercy and to find grace that brings help just when we need it. 28
- 13:8 Yesterday and today, Jesus Christ is the same, and so he will be for all the ages. 27
