1 Peter
Treated in 403 passages across the library.
The apostle Peter's letter to believers scattered through Asia Minor and suffering for their faith. He reminds them of their living hope and their calling as a holy priesthood, a people for God's own possession. He teaches submission and patient endurance after the example of Christ, and the call to cast all their care upon Him, "for he careth for you."
Chapters
The verses these writers stop at
- 2:24 He himself carried our sins in his own body up onto the cross, so that we would be done with sins and live for righteousness. By the bruises he bore you have been healed. 30
- 5:7 Do this by throwing every worry you have onto him, because you matter to him. 28
- 5:5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit to the elders. And all of you, tie humility on like a garment in your dealings with one another, because “God stands against the arrogant, but he gives grace to the humble.” 25
- 3:15 Instead, in your hearts set Christ apart as the holy Lord. Be ready at all times to make your defense to anyone who asks you for the reason behind the hope you hold. 22
- 1:23 You have been born anew, not from a seed that dies but from one that cannot die, through the word of God, which is alive and lasts. 20
- 2:2 Like newborn babies, crave the pure milk of God's word, so that by it you may grow up into salvation, 18
- 5:8 Keep a clear head. Stay awake. The devil, your opponent, roams about like a lion that roars, hunting for someone to swallow up. 18
- 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people God has claimed as his own, so that you may declare the great deeds of the one who called you out of the darkness into his amazing light. 17
