1 John
Treated in 499 passages across the library.
A letter of the apostle John to churches troubled by false teachers who denied that Christ had come in the flesh. It is written "that ye may know that ye have eternal life," giving tests of true faith in obedience, love for the brethren and belief in Christ. It declares that "God is light" and that "God is love," and that the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin.
Chapters
The verses these writers stop at
- 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous: he will forgive our sins and cleanse us from every kind of wrongdoing. 52
- 1:7 But if we walk in the light, just as he is in the light, we share fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, goes on cleansing us from every sin. 43
- 5:14 And here is the boldness we have in coming to him: whenever we ask for something in line with his will, he listens to us. 30
- 3:2 Dear friends, we are children of God now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he truly is. 28
- 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe just any spirit; test the spirits to find out whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out and are now in the world. 27
- 2:15 Do not give your love to the world or to the things that are in it. Whoever loves the world has no love for the Father in them. 26
- 2:1 My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. Yet if anyone does sin, we have an advocate in the Father's presence, Jesus Christ, who is righteous. 21
- 1:8 If we claim that we are free from sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 20
