Ruth

A short story set in the days of the judges. Ruth, a Moabite widow, refuses to leave her mother-in-law Naomi ("thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God") and gleans in the fields of Boaz in Bethlehem. Boaz redeems the family inheritance and marries her, and their son becomes the grandfather of King David. Christian writers have seen in Boaz a picture of Christ the kinsman-redeemer.
