About this book
A conversation between the Disciple and the Master, in which Sadhu Sundar Singh sets down the truths he says the Master revealed to him in prayer: on the manifestation of God’s presence, sin and salvation, prayer, service, the cross and the mystery of suffering, and heaven and hell. “It would be impossible for me to set forth these truths that have been revealed to me,” he writes, “except in parabolic language” — and so the Master answers in parables of the sponge in the water, the charcoal in the fire and the child who wants only his mother. Translated from the Urdu with the Sadhu’s own co-operation.
This little book was published in Urdu in India, where also an English translation was issued. In the preparation of this translation we have been fortunate in having the co-operation of the Sadhu himself, and in concert with him certain alterations have been made with a view to remove obscurities and give added point and clearness wherever possible.
