Power—Its Source
About this book
D. L. Moody’s five addresses on the power of the Holy Spirit for Christian life and service, first published in 1881. Moody begins with the Spirit as the source of all power, distinguishes the Spirit dwelling in the believer from the Spirit coming upon him for service, and shows what that power looks like in witness and in daily work — then names, plainly, the things that hinder it. Written with his usual directness and full of Scripture, anecdote and hymn, it is Moody’s own account of the secret behind the campaigns that stirred two continents.
In vain do the inhabitants of London go to their conduits for supply unless the man who has the master-key turns the water on; and in vain do we think to quench our thirst at ordinances, unless God communicates the living water of His Spirit.—Anon.
