About this book

Charles G. Finney's own account of the revivals that followed his preaching across upstate New York, the eastern cities and Britain. He wrote it at the urging of the trustees of Oberlin College, to give from himself a statement of the doctrines he preached, the measures he used and their results: from his conversion as a young law student at Adams in the autumn of 1821, through the awakenings at Western, Rome, Utica, Rochester, Philadelphia, New York and Boston, to his labors in England and Scotland and his long years at Oberlin. His family published the manuscript in 1876, the year after his death, essentially as he left it.

IT has pleased God in some measure to connect my name and labors with an extensive movement of the church of Christ, regarded by some as a new era in its progress, especially in relation to revivals of religion.
