Importance Of Prayer

Once you know how amazing something is, you can’t be forced to desire it!

There is an avalanche of benefits of prayer. As a student, knowing this is important because you will then be guided on what to expect. By learning how to pray, your spirit will be so ignited to pray more than ever. As you read what this chapter entails, let your heart and spirit be meek and open enough to feed your spirit. Take a look at these importances of prayer and let your spirit be so merry!

1. Prayer helps us commune with God. How beautiful to be one with God, united with the creator of all things, knowing what’s on His mind and knowing how exactly you can fulfil what He wants on Earth. This is so amazing!

2. Did you know that sometimes people don’t face the repercussions for their actions because someone or some people have prayed to God to have mercy upon this guilty person? That is how powerful prayer is! Your Dad, Mom, any relative or friend might have done something you don’t even think God can forgive; something big the whole world can be against, but through prayer, you can ask God to have mercy on them, and God hears when we pray. God can save your family and friends from the punishment they would have served for their actions. Glory to God! Here is a very good example in the Bible where Jesus prayed to God and lives were forgiven.

“And when they came t o the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Luke 23:33 -34.

So, if you have someone you would like God to forgive, go ahead and pray for them. God can have mercy on them and even get rid of the punishment they would have served had you not prayed.

3. The other importance of prayer is that it helps us to focus on God.

“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:2. We can set our minds on things above through prayer because prayer helps us focus, and see what God sees. Man and God are spirits so in prayer, you focus on spiritual things because you are in fellowship with God, who is a Spirit.

4. When we pray, the Holy Spirit also gives us instructions and guidance. Romans 8:26 says, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with g roanings too deep for words.”

Since the Holy Spirit knows the will of the Father in Heaven, He helps us communicate the will of the Father and in so, we receive guidance on how to successfully accomplish or do God’s will. Isn’t that beautiful? Without the Holy Spirit, it’s impossible to fully understand God’s will.

Acts 13:2 shows us how the disciples received instruction from the Holy Spirit as they were in fellowship with Him.

“While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

This is why every Christian should pay attention to the Holy Spirit and listen to Him.

When you pray, let the Holy Spirit guide you because He knows what God wants and what you need.

5. In prayer, we win! Hallelujah! Blessed be God! As a Christian, it’s important to know that everything that happens in the physical world first happens in the spiritual. When we pray, God makes us stronger. We have a special power from Him that helps us succeed and stay healthy. This power allows us to step on dangerous things, cast out demons in Jesus' name, and do things that seem impossible to others.

Are you facing a problem? Pray and believe that things will get better each day. God listens when we pray, and He answers. He has good plans for us, and He helps us overcome even the toughest challenges.

6. Prayer anchors us. As Christians, we don’t pray to make God change— He never changes.

We also don’t pray to get His attention because we are already impor tant to Him. We are always in His sight. Praise God! Instead, prayer helps us focus on Him. It reminds us that we are safe with Him, no matter what. That is why it’s so important to pray all the time, so we don’t give up or lose hope , but stay connected to God. Take a look at this scripture in Luke 18:1, “And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.”

7. When we pray, we can speak things into existence. Your life is your responsibility, and God has given you the Holy Spirit and His Word so you can shape your world. Who you are and what you experience are a result of your words. With God’s Word, you can change situations and create new things.

When God made you, He created you in His own image, which means He wants you to be like Him — a creator. You have the power to create your own reality. For example, you can refuse to be sick because the one whose image you bear (God) can never be sick. You can choose to live a great life every day, no matter how you feel.

Some people say life has ups and downs, but I ask them, "Where does the Bible say that?" That’s not how it should be for a believer. Once I learned the truth, my life has only been going upward and forward! Praise the Lord! You have control over your life and everything in it. It’s possible to live a life of continuous success, season after season, year after year.

Speak over your life and take advantage of what God has given you. Remember, God doesn’t want you to write a new Bible; He w ants you to understand His Word and live by it. Declare prosperity and abundance with your own mouth because you are the prophet of your own life! Hallelujah!
