An Introduction To Prayer

You can only know how to pray if you first know what prayer is!

Have you ever wondered what prayer is, why people pray, or why some always pray like it’s the most important thing in their life? If so, this book is for you! Many people have learned about prayer and been blessed by what they were taught. However, some still have questions about it. I believe this book will answer most if not all, questions about prayer. So why the wait, let's go right in!

What is prayer?

1. Prayer is an honour, a privilege to fellowship and be in oneness with God. Being in oneness in this case means that one knows what is at God’s heart and is able to do w hat God tells him. With this oneness, you can know the mind of Christ, live like Christ, think like Him, and be perfect as He is. That is what prayer does, it helps you be in that fellowship, that oneness with God where you can know what to do in every situation in life. How cool that is!

2. Prayer is a two-way channel. God speaks to us and we are also privileged to talk to Him.

So, prayer is never and shouldn’t ever be considered a one -sided channel where we pray and walk away. No! God speaks too, and this is the sole purpose of prayer, to commune with God, know Him better, and get to know what His will is. In your prayer times, intentionally give God room to talk to you too. That is how you know His heart, and will.

3. Prayer is also a necessity. Luke 18:1 says: “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint” Clearly, this is not a request. The scripture doesn’t say men shall, may, can, or might pray. Rather, it says that men ought to pray and not faint. This means that prayer must be a part of your day; prayer times can also be the most interesting times in your day. So, let prayer be your lifestyle; just like how you eat even when you don’t feel like it.

Jesus Christ, the perfect example Though He knew He was the son of the Most High God, Jesus was humble enough to pray. We see this in Luke 6:12: “In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.”

Beloved, never be too busy to pray, and never think of a time you don’t need to pray anymore.

P rayer is the pulse of every believer’s life. Without prayer, you cannot commune with God as Jesus did. Without prayer, you might not know what the Father’s will for your life is. Without prayer, it might be impossible for you to exercise your authority in Christ. This means taking up authority and causing the things that are in Christ Jesus to happen. You may also struggle to activate and walk in the consciousness of the divine presence in your life, and many more aspects that we will explain in our next chapters.
