Three Sacks of Potatoes

“Before they call, I will answer.” — from Isaiah 65

Another morning came when there was hardly anything in the house, and quite a lot of money was needed to feed all the children. So George did what he always did. He went to pray.

And while he was still praying — it was about ten o’clock in the morning — a man came to the door with a message. A lady had ordered three whole sacks of potatoes to be sent to the orphan homes!

Three big sacks of potatoes, arriving at just the right moment. George said they could not possibly have come at a better time.

Something like that happened again and again. Once, George met a man in the street who gave him money for the orphans — and George realised that if he had walked by even half a minute later, he would have missed him completely! But he wasn’t half a minute late. God had worked out the timing perfectly.

Isn’t that amazing? God doesn’t only send what we need. He sends it at exactly the right minute — sometimes while we are still praying, sometimes just before we walk past. He is never in a rush, and he is never too late.

Nothing is too small for God to arrange. He cares about the details of your day, right down to the minute.

Dear God, thank you that you know the perfect time for everything. Help me to wait for you and not to worry. Amen.
