Day 21 — Dream with God

“Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

— Psalm 37:4 (BSB)

What are your dreams? Not the ones you have when you’re asleep, but the ones you have when you’re awake. The things you hope for. The things you imagine doing someday.

Maybe you dream of traveling the world. Maybe you dream of writing a book, starting a business, becoming a doctor or having a family. Maybe you dream of making a difference for kids in need, or for animals, or for the environment.

God cares about your dreams. Look at today’s verse: “Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

At first, that might sound like a promise that God will give you anything you want. But look closely. It starts with: “Delight yourself in the LORD.” To delight in God means to love Him, enjoy Him, and make Him your greatest joy.

When you delight in God, something beautiful happens: your desires start to change. The more you love Him, the more you want what He wants. Your dreams start to line up with His dreams. And then He loves to give you those desires.

So how do you dream with God?

• Delight in Him first. Make knowing Him your biggest dream.
• Tell Him your dreams. He loves to hear them.
• Hold them with open hands. Be willing to let God change or redirect your dreams.
• Take small steps. If you dream of being a writer, start writing now! If you dream of helping people, find ways to help today.
• Ask Him for His dreams for you. They’re often even bigger and better than yours.

Remember what Paul wrote: God “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20). God’s dreams for you might be bigger than anything you’ve thought of!

Think about it: What’s a dream you have for your future? How could you invite God into it?

Try this: Write down three dreams you have. Pray over each one, and ask God to guide you.

Dear God, I want to delight in You more than anything. Thank You that You care about my dreams. Shape my desires to match Yours, and help me dream with You. I trust You with my future. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
