Day 16 — Plans in God’s Hands
“Commit your works to the LORD and your plans will be achieved.”
— Proverbs 16:3 (BSB)
Do you like making plans? Some girls love planning everything: what they’ll wear, what they’ll do this weekend, what they’ll be when they grow up. Other girls like to go with the flow.
As you grow up, you’ll have more to manage: homework, activities, friendships, chores, maybe a job. It’s easy to get overwhelmed. And it’s easy to waste time without meaning to.
Proverbs gives great advice for planning: “Commit your works to the LORD and your plans will be achieved.”
To commit something to the Lord means to hand it over to Him, to trust Him with it and ask for His help. Before you make plans, and while you carry them out, you invite God in.
Here are some ways to be wise with your time:
- Start your day with God. Even a few minutes of prayer and Bible reading sets your day on the right track.
- Make a simple plan. Write down what you need to do today. A to-do list can really help!
- Do the important things first. Homework before screens, chores before play.
- Don’t overload yourself. It’s okay to say no to some activities. You need rest too.
- Watch out for time-wasters. Screens can eat up hours without you noticing.
- Leave room for people. Some of the best moments aren’t planned, like a long talk with your mom or helping a friend.
- Be flexible. Sometimes plans change. Trust that God is still in control.
Committing your plans to God doesn’t mean He’ll give you everything you want. It means He’ll guide you, and your plans will line up more and more with His. The best plans are the ones God is part of.
Think about it: Do you usually invite God into your plans? What would it look like to “commit your works” to Him?
Try this: Tomorrow morning, write a short to-do list. Before you start, pray over it: “God, I commit these to You.”
Dear God, I commit my plans to You. Help me use my time wisely, do the important things first and leave room for rest and people. Guide my plans so they line up with Yours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
